On Crescent Wings- a Portrait of the Swift brings together well over over a decade of my sketches with my writing about what this bird has meant to me through my life. Long before the days of social media and calling systems I was conducting my own experiments with swift boxes, using an old cassette player to play calls to entice swifts to nest. Many sketches were made using infra red camera footage of birds in my nest boxes. I have spent countless hours by swift colonies observing and sketching and the book contains sketches of behaviour you can look for at your own colony. Also featured are paintings of locations where I have lived and watched swifts.
The book has a foreword by Edward Mayer(Swift Conservation) and an introduction by Alan Marshall with a section on how to attract swifts in the back.
